This lovely lady is my good friend Danielle. She is pregnant with her second (her first son) and due to give birth any day now. I took these photos last week on an unfortunately dark and rainy day. Despite the poor light and all our laughing and chatting, I think we still managed to get some fun belly shots! I can't wait to meet her little guy!

a look back at summer's flowers
Flowers may be a cliche subject matter, but I can't resist.
They have an allure that draws me in and practically forces me to photograph them.
I love their delicacy most. They come and go so quickly.
Perhaps that is why I like to capture them with my camera-- a chance to keep them forever.

Baby Miriam
This is the reason why I haven't been photographing other people's families much the past few months. I gave birth to this darling girl in June which means she just turned four months old. We braved the chilly air and took these photos today, and I am in love! In love with these pics on the walk by the side of our house. In love with the little hand knit bonnet Miriam's wearing. And mostly in love with the baby herself!
Dudley Family
Katie Dudley is a fantastic photographer and friend of mine. We recently met up at this little spot in Big Cottonwood canyon with our families and did a little photo swap. I photographed her family and she photographed mine! Here a few of the shots I took of Katie and her boys. Are they all gorgeous or what?
Hollingshead Family
Wow, I have been neglecting this blog! That's what happens when you have a new baby I guess. Now that she's four months old I'm finally starting to get my act together again with some new posts.
I photographed the handsome Hollingshead family back in August. I actually went to college with Natalie and Todd. They were print journalism majors, whereas I studied broadcasting, but we had some overlapping classes. Unlike me, they are actually using their journalism degrees. And have two adorable kids!

email glitch!
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to post a quick note to say that I just discovered that my redbeanphoto gmail account has not been forwarding my emails to my personal account where I always check it. For some reason all emails sent to redbeanphoto after June 12 have not made it into my normal inbox. So my sincere apologies if you have emailed me during that time and haven't received a response. I have quite a few emails to go through and will be in touch as soon as I can. Thanks for understanding!!!

White Family
It had been awhile since I'd done a family shoot, so I had a lot of fun shooting the Whites. They are so cute and picked great colors for Spring. We took these at Memory Grove Park here in Salt Lake City. It was my first time shooting there, and I will definitely go back.

Breastfeeding Photo Project: Call for Nursing Moms
With all this breastfeeding talk happening on the internets this week, a little idea has popped into my mind and it won't go away.
I want to do a breastfeeding photo project. This may have been done before but that's ok, because obviously we still aren't seeing enough breastfeeding in our culture. So here's my plan...
I need breastfeeding moms willing to be photographed. Your child can be any age. I want to photograph you nursing in your own environment or a place you would typically nurse. That could be your home, the park, the mall, etc.
I want these photos to be beautiful and accurate portrayals of breastfeeding. If you use a cover, great. If you don't, great. I'm not looking for anything in particular other than moms giving their children the best nature has to offer.
I live in Salt Lake City and am willing to travel about an hour in any direction to do these photo shoots. In exchange for your time, I will give you one high resolution digital file of your choice from the shoot. Additional digital files and prints will be available for purchase.
I don't know yet how far this project will go or what the end result will be. I'll take it one shoot at a time and see what happens. I also have no time limit on this, but seeing as how I'm due to have a baby in less than 3 months, I would like to do as many shoots as I can before then.
So if you are a breastfeeding mom or you know a breastfeeding mom willing to be photographed for my little project, please email me at redbeanphoto AT gmail DOT com.
And feel free to spread the word!
Thanks!
